Finally a not so dark Eva
Don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of the original EVA, since its release, I’ve took part in many online discussions both on IRC or within forums regarding the story line and ideologies behind EVA. However, I must admit, EVA in all its essence is pretty dark and depressing.
The fact that a viewer is introduced to many characters, learn of each by name, personality, and other traits, then all wiped out within a not so long series finale movie. I am sure I wasn’t the only one that went into shock when Asuka was torn apart, or when Rei’s head fell from her gigantic Lilith body.
Well, recently, I’ve came across this new series, it is based on EVA’s game. Shinji Ikari Raising Project.
Honestly, the game wasn’t much interesting to me. Mostly because I’ve lost the interest in playing games, but would rather read the walk through and enjoy the storyline. So, the manga version is exactly down my alley of interest.

The story of this series is absolutely different from the original EVA series. At least, for the first few pages, the settings and characters seems to be completely different.
In this series, so far, Yui, Shinji’s mother isn’t dead. So we don’t have that ‘weak, I wanna run and hide’ Shinji personality. Gendo isn’t as scary, actually from the few gimps I’ve seen, will be a funny character. As he seems to be more human, if hiding behind newspaper from a about to yell wife is human.
My basic feeling since I am on the first few pages of the first volume, I think this will be a ToHeart with Eva Characters.
