Neon Genesis Evangelion: Shinji Ikari Raising Project, reviewed

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Shinji Ikari Raising Project

As a follow up to my initial finding post, I’ve read about 3 Volumes of this series, it is about the most I can get my hands on. I was correct when I said that it feels like a ‘ToHeart’ with EVA characters.

In this manga series, Shinji and Asuka are childhood friends. They lived in Tokyo-3 since they knew each other, and went to the same school since. Up to the point where I am, there are several relationship happening, just that they are not surprises to any Original EVA fans.

One of the things that might disappoint some fans are that, there are no EVAs in this series. The closest point we get to see an EVA are in the end of Volume 1, where EVA-1 appears and complain about not appearing in this new Neon Genesis Series. :)

Finally a not so dark Eva

Posted by samson on Jul 8, 2008 in Manga World

Don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of the original EVA, since its release, I’ve took part in many online discussions both on IRC or within forums regarding the story line and ideologies behind EVA. However, I must admit, EVA in all its essence is pretty dark and depressing.

The fact that a viewer is introduced to  many characters, learn of each by name, personality, and other traits, then all wiped out within a not so long series finale movie. I am sure I wasn’t the only one that went into shock when Asuka was torn apart, or when Rei’s head fell from her gigantic Lilith body.

Well, recently, I’ve came across this new series, it is based on EVA’s game. Shinji Ikari Raising Project.

Honestly, the game wasn’t much interesting to me. Mostly because I’ve lost the interest in playing games, but would rather read the walk through and enjoy the storyline. So, the manga version is exactly down my alley of interest.

The story of this series is absolutely different from the original EVA series. At least, for the first few pages, the settings and characters seems to be completely different.

In this series, so far, Yui, Shinji’s mother isn’t dead. So we don’t have that ‘weak, I wanna run and hide’ Shinji personality. Gendo isn’t as scary, actually from the few gimps I’ve seen, will be a funny character. As he seems to be more human, if  hiding behind newspaper from a about to yell wife is human. :)

My basic feeling since I am on the first few pages of the first volume, I think this will be a ToHeart with Eva Characters.

Why are gas prices so high?

Posted by samson on Jul 7, 2008 in Money Talks

Gas prices have been rising consecutively for the past months, it went from 70 cents/L couple of months ago to the current price of $1.40/L. Several reasons were used to explained the raise in the cost of gas, and none of them really make senses, at least to me.

China.

That’s one of the first reasons used to explain the raise from 60 cents to about 90 cents, everyone knew that China have a large population, and it is modernization Read more…

Funny Video

Posted by samson on Jul 1, 2008 in Life's little pleasures

I was doing my ‘relax and browse Youtube for funny video’ thing…. and I came across this one.

It looks to have originated from Comedy Central, where the prank is a guy on a beach, would make a small tent around his genitals, which of course resembles a gigantic Erection.

Follow up to Viagra Ads

Posted by samson on Jul 1, 2008 in Life's little pleasures

In a past post, I’ve talked about how ‘weird’ the Viagra TV ads were.

One, the fact that they use gibberish to replace ‘any language’ and it seems in all language, Viagra tends to ’stood out’.

I was actually questioning the necessity for showing 3 to 4 Viagra ads in a single Ad segment during a show.

Well, here is another one, take a look, I was laughing my ass off when I saw it.

Remember, this is a Parody, I believe to have originated from ‘This hour has 22 Min’.
